Gua Sha Treatments

Gua Sha (pronounced “gwahshah”) is a healing practice with roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The term Gua Sha comes from the Chinese word for “scraping.” Some people refer to Gua Sha as skin scraping, spooning, or coining.

Gua Sha practitioners use massage oil and a scraping tool to stimulate circulation and increase blood flow. Increasing blood flow helps relieve tension and pain, reduce wrinkles, and enhance your skin’s appearance. Natural remedies for keeping your skin healthy can be an alternative to expensive and risky Western medicine practices such as plastic surgery, face lifts and Botox treatments.

Gua Sha can be done on the body as well as a form of facial massage. Massaging the face can reduce sinus pressure and pain, acne, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain, and scar tissue.

Like other TCM practices, Gua Sha works by rebalancing and redirecting Qi, or energy, in the body. When Qi is blocked or stagnant, it can cause health to deteriorate. Gua Sha works through the blocked energy, relieving tension, pain, and discomfort.
