Electroacupuncture (also known as electro-stimulation) is a therapeutic treatment that utilizes acupuncture needles connected to a small electrical current. Electroacupuncture is similar to traditional acupuncture because the same points are stimulated during treatment.
Electroacupuncture is performed with a special machine that produces gentle, electric stimulation to the needles. While using the same pressure points as acupuncture, electroacupuncture safely amplifies the effects of acupuncture.
Some clients will experience a slight tingling sensation at the point of contact. This is most likely due to the electrical current. However, most will not feel much sensation. That said, some minor bruising may occur if the needles hit a blood vessel.
Electroacupuncture can build strength and prevent muscle atrophy for numerous conditions. It can also improve neurological disorders such as neuropathy, spasms, and paralysis. Those who suffer from stubborn neurological disorders and chronic pain find immense relief from electroacupuncture. Even those with something as severe as paralysis often find relief. Our board-certified practitioners will tell you if you would benefit from electroacupuncture.
